Maersk to Test Anemoi Rotor Sail on 8,700 TEU Containership
Danish carrier Maersk has partnered with UK-based Anemoi Marine Technologies to pilot a 35-metre rotor sail on an 8,700 TEU vessel next year.

Danish shipping giant Maersk is preparing to integrate wind-assisted propulsion into its container operations through a new pilot installation planned for next year.
The carrier has reached an agreement with British wind propulsion specialist Anemoi Marine Technologies to supply the system.
Under the scope of the project, Anemoi will handle the design and production of a single fixed rotor sail. The mechanical cylinder will feature a diameter of 5 metres and a height of 35 metres.
The hardware is slated to be retrofitted onto an 8,700 TEU container vessel as Maersk evaluates the operational performance of wind-assisted technology across its fleet.
