Older Tanker Valuations Climb as Asset Repricing Accelerates Across Age Curve
Secondhand asset repricing is extending across all vessel age brackets, with the sharpest percentage gains concentrated in vintage tonnage.

Secondhand tanker asset values are undergoing significant repricing across the entire fleet age spectrum, with valuation growth becoming more pronounced as vessel age increases.
While modern five-year-old units continue to change hands at levels exceeding newbuilding prices, appreciation rates are expanding substantially further out along the age curve.
In the very large crude carrier sector, five-year-old vessel values have increased by 30 percent year-over-year, while ten-year-old units have advanced by 42 percent over the same timeframe.
The repricing trend intensifies sharply for vintage crude carriers, with fifteen-year-old VLCCs recording a 61 percent rise and twenty-year-old tonnage gaining 90 percent in value compared to year-ago levels.
Similar curve dynamics are also shaping the Suezmax market, where older tonnage continues to capture substantial asset value increases across corresponding age categories.
