Yang Ming Orders Six Dual-Fuel Boxships at Hanwha Ocean
Taiwanese carrier Yang Ming has contracted South Korean shipbuilder Hanwha Ocean to build six alternative-fuel container vessels.

Taiwanese shipping line Yang Ming has entered into a newbuilding contract with South Korea's Hanwha Ocean covering the construction of six container vessels.
The newly ordered series will feature liquefied natural gas (LNG) dual-fuel propulsion alongside ammonia-ready design specifications, providing operational versatility for future alternative fuel adoption.
In addition to the alternative fuel propulsion arrangements, the vessels will be fitted with dedicated energy-saving devices intended to reduce overall fuel consumption and improve operational efficiency.
The contract aligns with ongoing fleet modernization and decarbonization initiatives across the commercial maritime industry, reflecting sustained investment in lower-emission tonnage and efficiency-enhancing ship designs.
