Bayraktar Shipping Places Feeder Boxship Order at Wuhan Qingshan
Turkish shipowner Bayraktar Shipping has contracted up to four 1,800 teu containership newbuildings at China Merchants Industry's Wuhan Qingshan Shipyard.

Istanbul-based shipowner Bayraktar Shipping has moved into the newbuilding sector with an order for small container vessels at a Chinese shipyard. Market reports link the Turkish shipping firm to a contract comprising two firm 1,800 teu feeder containerships, with the deal also incorporating options for two additional sister vessels.
The newbuilding contract has been placed at Wuhan Qingshan Shipyard, a facility operating under China Merchants Industry Group. Under the terms of the agreement, the two firm vessels are scheduled for handover between 2028 and 2029.
Details regarding the contract pricing and technical specifications for the 1,800 teu series have not been released. The transaction reflects continued international interest in securing building slots for regional feeder tonnage across Chinese yards.
The delivery timeframe extending toward the end of the decade highlights sustained demand for yard capacity in China, where availability for commercial shipbuilding berths remains constrained over the medium term.
