We use automation to monitor the market faster than a small newsroom could alone. We do not use it to republish other outlets' work.
What automation does
Our pipeline monitors public feeds and market data, identifies developments relevant to dry bulk shipping, and drafts an original editorial summary of the facts reported elsewhere. Facts are not copyrightable; expression is. Drafts are written from scratch in our own editorial voice.
What automation never does
It never republishes source text, never publishes without human approval, never invents figures, quotes or named sources, and never removes attribution to the outlet that first reported a development.
Human accountability
Every published story carries a named editor who is accountable for it. AI-assisted articles are labelled. Where a draft cannot be verified against its source, it is rejected rather than published with caveats.
Images
We publish licensed or owned imagery where available. Where no suitable licensed image exists, an illustrative image may be used and is clearly labelled as illustrative. We do not present illustrative imagery as documentary evidence of an event.
