Containership Fleet Expands as Deliveries Rise and Orderbooks Grow
New vessel handovers to CMA CGM and ONE add 153,000 TEU of capacity while Wan Hai contracts additional tonnage.

Global container fleet capacity continues to build as major ocean carriers take delivery of newly constructed tonnage from shipbuilders. Recent handovers include new vessels delivered to French carrier CMA CGM and Ocean Network Express (ONE), alongside other leading liner operators.
Industry tracking from the August 2026 edition of DynaLiners Monthly shows that shipbuilders delivered 20 containerships over the latest reporting period.
In total, the 20 newly completed vessels introduced an aggregate carrying capacity of 153,000 TEU to the operational market, reinforcing available space across international liner routes.
In addition to the arrival of operational vessels, contracting activity remains active. Taiwanese line Wan Hai has expanded its existing orderbook by committing to additional newbuilding slots, maintaining a flow of future fleet replenishment.
