EST-Floattech to Equip 15 River Cruise Vessels with Battery Systems
Dutch energy storage developer EST-Floattech will deliver 9.7 MWh of battery capacity for 15 river cruise vessels under an agreement with Van Tiem Elektro.

Netherlands-headquartered energy storage developer EST-Floattech has secured a contract from Dutch system integrator Van Tiem Elektro to supply maritime battery solutions for a series of 15 river cruise newbuildings.
Under the terms of the agreement, the supplier will provide its proprietary Octopus High Energy battery systems. Each vessel will receive an onboard storage capacity of 650 kWh, bringing the total capacity across the 15-ship program to 9.7 MWh.
Outfitting of the vessels is split between two European yards. Work is currently taking place at the De Gerlien van Tiem yard in Druten, the Netherlands, alongside the Vahali Shipyards facility in Ghent, Belgium.
Upon completion, the passenger ships are scheduled to enter service for cruise operators including AmaWaterways and Uniworld. The vessels will operate along regional inland waterways on the Danube and across the Black Sea region.
