European Wind Power Installations Rise 30% in First Half
Europe added 8.8 GW of wind capacity in the first half of the year, supported by heavy project commissioning in Germany and gains across the offshore sector.

European wind power deployment experienced substantial momentum during the first half of the year, with new installations totaling 8.8 GW across the continent. Data from industry body WindEurope, reported by Reuters, indicates that additions rose by approximately 30% compared to the same period in the prior year.
The expansion was primarily propelled by sustained activity in Germany and a notable increase in offshore wind projects. Germany served as the single largest contributor to the regional total, adding 3.4 GW of new wind assets and accounting for roughly 39% of all installations completed in Europe during the six-month period.
With these new grid connections commissioned throughout the first half, cumulative installed wind power capacity across Europe reached 311 GW by the end of June.
The figures underline a steady pace of capital deployment into European generation infrastructure, with offshore developments and German capacity additions continuing to serve as the core drivers of regional asset growth.
