Former STX Chief Kang Duk-soo Stages Shipbuilding Return with SK Oceanplant Acquisition
Kang Duk-soo is returning to the South Korean shipyard sector through an investment consortium acquiring control of SK Oceanplant.

Kang Duk-soo, the industrialist who built South Korea's former STX conglomerate, is making a return to the maritime manufacturing industry following an extended absence.
The re-entry is being structured through D-Ocean Asset Management, an investment consortium that is acquiring a controlling interest in domestic offshore and fabrication yard SK Oceanplant.
The takeover transaction is valued at approximately KRW410 billion ($298 million), securing control of the Goseong-based marine and offshore fabrication firm.
SK Oceanplant, formerly known as Samkang M&T, operates shipyard and offshore structure production facilities in South Korea. The transaction marks Kang's return to corporate leadership within the nation's shipbuilding landscape after overseeing one of the largest conglomerate expansions during prior industry cycles.
