Inmarsat Maritime Launches Safety Data Hub to Track Shipping Hazards
The new analytics platform synthesises three years of distress logs and more than 100,000 safety broadcasts to map operational risks across international commercial shipping.

Inmarsat Maritime has introduced the Maritime Safety Data Hub, an analytics tool built to assess and highlight hazards confronting the commercial fleet worldwide.
The system integrates distress calls with navigational and meteorological safety transmissions, providing an aggregated picture of operational risk patterns across international waters.
Central to the platform's analytical framework is an evaluation of three years of records drawn from the Global Maritime Distress and Safety System (GMDSS). This historical baseline allows for the examination of incident frequency and the conditions prompting emergency communications.
In addition to GMDSS distress records, the hub incorporates insights derived from 106,975 maritime safety broadcasts sent during 2025, mapping advisory alerts alongside recorded emergency situations.
Conducted alongside supply chain research partners, the project aims to translate mandatory maritime communication flows into structured intelligence that assists the wider industry in understanding navigational perils.
