KfW IPEX-Bank Backs Dual-Fuel Self-Unloaders with €79.3 Million Facility
The German export financier has arranged funding for a pair of 44,000-tonne self-discharging dry bulk vessels designed for construction material trades.

KfW IPEX-Bank has agreed to provide €79.3 million in financing to support the construction of two next-generation self-unloading bulk carriers. The specialized vessels are earmarked for the maritime transportation of construction materials across global supply chains.
According to the financing agreement, each vessel will provide a maximum cargo carrying capacity of 44,000 tonnes. The newbuilds are scheduled to be deployed across European trade lanes as well as international export markets.
To align with lower-carbon shipping requirements, the new bulk carriers will be constructed with dual-fuel main engines. The propulsion configuration is engineered to facilitate reduced operational emissions while maintaining trading flexibility.
The capital commitment highlights continued institutional appetite for specialized dry bulk tonnage equipped with alternative fuel capabilities for industrial raw material distribution.
