MB Energy has completed a small-scale methanol bunkering trial in Germany, supplying fuel to TUI Cruises' vessel Mein Schiff 7. The operation was carried out at the Port of Kiel's Ostseekai Cruise Terminal.

The bunkering procedure delivered approximately 25 cubic metres of methanol sourced from renewable feedstocks. According to an announcement released on 1 September, the alternative fuel loaded during the trial is designated primarily for the vessel's onboard boiler operations.

Logistics firm Johs. Martens conducted the physical delivery on behalf of MB Energy via a truck-to-ship method. In alignment with lower-emission transport practices, the tanker truck deployed for the operation was fuelled by HVO 100.

The trial marks a practical step in testing alternative bunker supply chains, validating truck-to-ship delivery mechanisms for renewable methanol at regional marine terminals.
