Mistral Secures €3bn in Record European AI Funding Round
French artificial intelligence firm Mistral has completed a €3bn Series D round led by Samsung Electronics, lifting its valuation above €21bn.

French artificial intelligence developer Mistral has completed a €3bn Series D funding round, establishing a new record for equity financing within the European technology sector. The major capital injection places the firm's post-money valuation at more than €21bn, just three years after the business was launched.
The equity round was led by Samsung Electronics. It also drew co-lead participation from the Scaleup Europe Fund, which is managed by investment firm EQT, alongside backing from existing investor PSG Equity.
The Paris-based enterprise secured the funds to advance its stated objective of establishing open-weight artificial intelligence as the technology frontier. The transaction represents the single largest equity fundraising round ever completed by a European technology company.
The substantial investment highlights continued institutional appetite for emerging artificial intelligence developers capable of challenging incumbent market leaders through scalable foundational models.
