Norwegian Consortium Launches WINTEGRATE to Advance Commercial Wind Propulsion
Backed by NOK 68 million from Norway's Green Platform programme, a cross-industry group led by Kongsberg Maritime is targeting faster deployment of wind-assisted shipping technologies.

A broad coalition of Norwegian maritime firms, technology providers, and research organisations has initiated WINTEGRATE, an innovation project designed to speed up the uptake of wind propulsion systems across commercial fleets.
Kongsberg Maritime serves as the project owner for the joint initiative, which has secured up to NOK 68 million in funding through Norway's Green Platform programme. The national grant scheme supports research and innovation-driven green transition initiatives across key industries.
The consortium brings together a wide range of maritime domain expertise, including ship operators, technology vendors, classification societies, and academic institutions. Alongside Kongsberg Maritime, participating entities include SINTEF Ocean, SINTEF Digital, DNV, StormGeo, OsloMet, and DIGICAT.
Commercial shipping and system development partners are also represented, featuring vessel operators Odfjell SE and Seatrans, equipment and technology specialists Norsepower, bound4blue, and Corvus, as well as OMS. The group plans to leverage joint research and operational insights to overcome implementation barriers and scale wind propulsion solutions across commercial vessels.
