Japan's Osaka Gas Co. has successfully executed the first ship-to-ship liquefied natural gas bunkering operation in Osaka Bay, marking a new stage in the region's alternative marine fuel delivery infrastructure.

The operation took place at the Port of Kobe, where the LNG bunkering vessel Seto Azure delivered fuel to an unnamed pure car and truck carrier operated by an overseas shipping line.

The Seto Azure is owned by Osaka Bay LNG Shipping Co. The bunkering arrangement was facilitated through Singapore-based marine fuel trading firm Integr8 Fuels Pte. Ltd.

Osaka Gas stated that the introduction of ship-to-ship bunkering services will help secure a dependable supply of LNG fuel throughout the Osaka Bay district and advance ongoing efforts to develop the Port of Kobe into a carbon-neutral port.
