SAL Heavy Lift signs MoU for five more Orca-class vessels at Wuhu Shipyard
German heavylift specialist eyes expansion of its 14,600 dwt Orca series under a new agreement with Chinese shipbuilder.

German heavylift operator SAL Heavy Lift has signed a memorandum of understanding with China's Wuhu Shipyard to potentially add five more multipurpose heavylift vessels to its orderbook.
The preliminary agreement outlines the construction of another five 14,600 dwt vessels based on the specialist's proprietary Orca-class design.
If the memorandum is converted into firm shipbuilding contracts, the deal will effectively double the scope of the Orca-class newbuilding programme for the Harren Group subsidiary.
The expansion at the Chinese yard signals continued fleet development for the German multipurpose and heavy project cargo transport company.
