Swiss dry bulk operator Suisse-Atlantique has expanded its ongoing fleet renewal strategy in China by ordering two additional bulk carriers at Jiangmen Nanyang Shipyard.

The latest contract covers a pair of 40,500 dwt open-hatch dry bulk vessels. With this agreement, the André family-controlled shipping enterprise now has seven newbuildings under construction at the Guangdong-based yard.

The newly confirmed pair joins an existing order of five ultramax bulk carriers that Suisse-Atlantique had previously contracted at the same facility.

The expansion reinforces the Swiss owner's commitment to modernising its capacity across the mid- and smaller-sized dry bulk segments through sustained construction commitments in the Chinese shipbuilding sector.
