UP World LNG Shipping Index Hits Record High of 235.88 Points
The specialized maritime equities benchmark gained 2.15% over the week to reach an all-time high, outperforming broader equity markets despite narrowing market breadth.

The UP World LNG Shipping Index (UPI) reached a new all-time high last week, climbing 4.97 points to conclude the trading period at 235.88 points. The 2.15% advance brought the specialized liquefied natural gas carrier benchmark back into record territory following a one-week interruption in its upward trajectory.
The equity benchmark's weekly performance notably outpaced general market indices over the same timeframe. By comparison, the S&P 500 index posted a comparatively muted gain of 0.15% across the week.
Despite the headline index setting a fresh record close, underlying market breadth across the sector remained constrained. Market gains were not distributed evenly across the entire pool of listed LNG carrier equities.
Across the index constituent base, the ratio of advancing stocks to declining stocks settled at 13 to 8, illustrating that fewer equities supported the benchmark's push into historic highs.
