Yang Ming Orders Six LNG Dual-Fuel 13,000 TEU Boxships at Hanwha Ocean
Taiwanese carrier Yang Ming has finalized a shipbuilding agreement with Hanwha Ocean for six LNG-powered 13,000 TEU container vessels.

Yang Ming Marine Transport Corporation has formalized a shipbuilding contract with South Korean shipbuilder Hanwha Ocean Co., Ltd. for the construction of six container vessels.
The contracted newbuildings will each feature a nominal capacity in the 13,000 TEU class. The vessels are designed with liquefied natural gas (LNG) dual-fuel propulsion capabilities, allowing them to operate on alternative bunker fuel.
The official signing ceremony was executed by the executive leadership of both corporations, with Yang Ming represented by Chairman Dr. Chuck Tsai and Hanwha Ocean represented by Chief Executive Officer Charles Kim.
The order represents a major capital commitment to alternative-fuel tonnage, securing advanced shipbuilding slots at Hanwha Ocean for Yang Ming's future fleet requirements.
