Yang Ming Orders Six LNG Dual-Fuel Boxships at Hanwha Ocean
Taiwan's Yang Ming has contracted South Korean shipbuilder Hanwha Ocean for the construction of six 13,000 TEU dual-fuel container vessels.

Taiwanese container carrier Yang Ming has concluded a newbuilding contract with South Korea's Hanwha Ocean for six LNG dual-fuel container vessels, each with a nominal capacity of 13,000 TEU.
Deliveries of the newly ordered boxships are scheduled to take place between 2028 and 2029. According to the carrier, the fleet additions are slated to operate across primary east-west shipping corridors linking Asia with the Americas and Mediterranean markets.
The vessel specifications include multiple energy-saving technologies aimed at enhancing operational efficiency. The units will be fitted with wind shields, rudder bulbs, pre-swirl stators, and shore power connections, alongside dedicated cyber security systems.
The series will also be designed with future decarbonisation pathways in mind, incorporating ammonia fuel readiness into the technical profile.
