Baltic Dry Index Dips as Capesize Losses Halt Three-Day Advance
The Baltic Exchange's main freight gauge slipped on Monday, snapping a three-day winning streak as the capesize segment softened.

The Baltic Exchange's main sea freight index, which tracks rates for vessels carrying dry bulk commodities, retreated on Monday to bring an end to a consecutive three-day advance.
The overall index dropped by 1.4 percent to settle at 3,575 points. Despite the daily decline, the benchmark continues to hold near its highest levels recorded since October 2021.
Weakness in the largest vessel class weighed on the broader market. The capesize index fell by 2.2 percent during the session, declining to 6,286 points.
Capesize vessels typically carry 150,000-tonne cargoes, predominantly transporting raw materials such as iron ore and coal.
