Greek shipping company Sea Pioneer Shipping has emerged as the buyer behind a multi-vessel crude tanker order recently secured by South Korean shipbuilder SK Oceanplant.
Market sources have named the Vasilis Bacolitsas-led company as the previously undisclosed Greek counterparty for a series of six firm 115,000 dwt aframax crude carriers. The agreement also includes options for two additional sister ships.
The contract represents a notable newbuilding program at the South Korean shipyard, reinforcing demand in the mid-size crude tanker segment.
