SK Oceanplant Secures Order for Up to Eight Aframax Tankers
South Korea's SK Oceanplant has clinched a major newbuilding deal with a Greek owner for up to eight 115,000 dwt aframax tankers valued at around $583m.

South Korean shipbuilder SK Oceanplant has entered into a major merchant shipbuilding contract with an undisclosed Greek shipowner to build up to eight aframax tankers.
The agreement includes a firm commitment for six 115,000 dwt vessels, alongside options for two additional units. The initial firm order of six tankers carries a reported value of approximately $430 million.
If the optional pair of vessels is declared by the buyer, the cumulative value of the eight-ship programme is expected to reach roughly KRW800 billion ($583 million).
The contract marks the shipyard's most significant merchant vessel construction deal in several years, with the series of tankers scheduled for construction at SK Oceanplant's yard facilities.
