Baltic Dry Index Extends Rally to Multi-Week Peak Driven by Capesize Gains
The dry bulk benchmark recorded its fifth straight session of increases as surging capesize rates propelled the overall market above the 3,000-point threshold.

The Baltic Exchange's main dry bulk sea freight index climbed 4.4% on Wednesday to settle at 3,056 points. The daily uptick marks the fifth consecutive trading session of positive movement for the composite measure.
With this latest advance, the overall benchmark attained its highest mark since August 10. The multi-vessel index reflects daily charter market assessments across capesize, panamax, and supramax bulk carriers.
The broader market's expansion was spearheaded by significant strength in the largest vessel category. The capesize index registered a 6.3% jump during Wednesday's session, rising to 5,033 points.
Similar to the headline index, the capesize sub-index reached its highest level recorded since August 10, underscoring the strong upward momentum observed in the large-tonnage freight market.
