Port Otago Contracts Konecranes for 10 Hybrid Straddle Carriers
New Zealand's Port Otago has commissioned a fleet of 10 hybrid straddle carriers and management software from Konecranes to upgrade terminal operations.

Port Otago has entered into an agreement with cargo handling equipment specialist Konecranes for the supply of 10 hybrid straddle carriers as part of a broader upgrade to its container operations in New Zealand.
The procurement covers 10 hybrid Konecranes Noell Straddle Carriers designed to support terminal yard logistics. Alongside the physical machinery, the package incorporates the vendor's integrated Noell Fleet Management System to manage and optimize machine performance.
Konecranes officially registered the equipment order in June 2026. Under the delivery schedule agreed between the parties, all 10 hybrid units are slated for handover by the end of August 2027.
The investment forms part of the terminal operator's ongoing efforts to renew handling assets, improve operational efficiencies, and introduce modern hybrid technology into its waterside logistical infrastructure.
