Yang Ming Contracts Hanwha Ocean for Six LNG Dual-Fuel Boxships
Taiwanese ocean carrier Yang Ming has placed an order for six 13,650 TEU LNG dual-fuel containerships at South Korea's Hanwha Ocean, with deliveries slated for 2028 and 2029.

Yang Ming Marine Transport has expanded its future fleet pipeline by signing a newbuilding contract with South Korean shipbuilder Hanwha Ocean for six containerships. Each vessel will feature a nominal carrying capacity of 13,650 TEU and utilize LNG dual-fuel propulsion.
Deliveries of the newly ordered boxships are scheduled to take place between 2028 and 2029. The investment reflects the ongoing adoption of alternative-fuel solutions among global container lines modernizing their core fleet assets.
Upon entering commercial service, the vessels are designated for deployment on Yang Ming's East-West network. The carrier intends to leverage the mid-sized post-Panamax dimensions to maintain operational versatility across major lanes, including trade corridors connecting Asia with North America and South America.
The addition of these dual-fuel units will support the shipping line's capacity requirements while enabling reduced vessel emissions across long-haul liner services.
