International commodities trading house Alkagesta has reported record financial performance for the first half of 2026, generating revenue of $3.5 billion (€3.02 billion). The performance marks the company's strongest half-year to date, supported by significant expansion in traded tonnage despite sustained volatility across global energy and raw material markets.

Trading volumes for the six-month period climbed 53 percent year-on-year to 4.9 million metric tonnes, up from 3.2 million metric tonnes recorded in the first half of 2025. On the back of current activity, the Malta-headquartered group expects full-year 2026 volumes to exceed 10 million metric tonnes, compared with 8.7 million metric tonnes handled across 2025.

The group's performance was underpinned by strategic diversification across energy segments, notably including a structured entry into the crude oil trade. During the first half of the year, Alkagesta concluded its initial crude transactions, executing the end-to-end delivery of approximately 1.07 million barrels into the Far East.

Alkagesta also expanded its middle distillates activity by launching commercial deliveries into the European aviation fuel sector via the NATO Central Europe Pipeline System. In addition, the trader logged increased activity across its steel and biofuels portfolios, broadening its commercial exposure across both dry and liquid commodities.

Logistics and terminal infrastructure saw a corresponding scale-up. Alkagesta's total storage capacity across Europe and Asia rose to 700,000 cubic metres, bolstered by a multi-year lease agreement for biofuel storage at the Pantank facility in Antwerp. Concurrently, the group's Singapore hub expanded operational throughput, handling approximately 250,000 metric tonnes per month.

Commenting on the half-year results, Alkagesta Chief Executive Officer Orkhan Rustamov stated: "These results reflect the progress we have made through a measured and disciplined approach to growth. Despite significant volatility across global commodities markets, our focus has remained on serving our clients reliably and building our business on strong, long-term relationships."

For the marine fuels sector, Alkagesta's expanding footprint in terminal infrastructure and alternative feedstocks highlights the growing consolidation of downstream storage assets. The secured capacity at Antwerp reinforces regional supply chains for renewable fuels at a time when marine operators are increasingly seeking compliant biofuel blend components.

For dry bulk and tanker markets alike, the trader's rising cargo volumes and diversification into steel, crude, and refined products reflect active trading routes connecting Europe and Asia, sustaining freight demand across international coastal and deepsea distribution networks.
